King County Executive Girmay Zahilay has proclaimed Sept. 7–11 as National Payroll Week in King County to honor and celebrate the vital work of payroll professionals. “King County payroll professionals play a key role in maintaining the economic health of the County, in ensuring the economic security of families by carrying out diverse tasks such as processing paychecks, payments to child support, and tax withholding, reporting, and depositing,” Executive Zahilay said in his Proclamation. Back-to-back Emmy awards, this time for short science documentary
Crossposted from Field Notes A video showing how our scientists discovered a potential breakthrough for treating a toxic tire chemical that is killing coho salmon won the award for best short-form environment/science documentary at the 63rd Annual Northwest Regional Emmy Awards gala. Multimedia Specialists Ken Christensen and Eric Keto used a toy truck and mason jars filled with organic ingredients to show how a high-performing soil mixture has proven effective in lab tests at treating a toxic chemical, known as 6PPDQ, that is killing coho salmon before they reach their spawning grounds. AAAE event showcases innovation in electrification

Records Management Report: King County among best in the nation!
During Records and Information Management Month, it’s a great time to celebrate our successes. Last year, King County received a report from an independent consultant that evaluated how well King County’s records and information management practices align with best practices and standards. That consultant, FreeDoc, evaluated King County’s practices based on 25+ different industry standards, maturity models, guidelines, and technical reports related to records management.
