King County Executive Girmay Zahilay has proclaimed Sept. 7–11 as National Payroll Week in King County to honor and celebrate the vital work of payroll professionals.

“King County payroll professionals play a key role in maintaining the economic health of the County, in ensuring the economic security of families by carrying out diverse tasks such as processing paychecks, payments to child support, and tax withholding, reporting, and depositing,” Executive Zahilay said in his Proclamation.

This year’s theme for National Payroll Week is “Every Paycheck Creates Possibility,” which recognizes the importance of timely and accurate processing of pay to all workers.

The Department of Human Resources (DHR) Director Matt Smith also recognized and thanked King County’s payroll professionals. “As someone who has worked in HR for many years, I know how important timely and accurate payroll processing is – and how much work goes on behind the scenes,” Smith said. “National Payroll Week is an important reminder to King County employees about the critical work that you do as payroll professionals, also impacting employee benefits and retirement.”
